Wine farms, a rose garden, and a town that started out as Pumpkin Fold.
Where Durbanville sits
Durbanville started out as Pampoen Kraal, which means pumpkin fold. It was renamed D’Urban in 1836, after Cape Governor Sir Benjamin D’Urban, and became Durbanville in 1882. Wine has been farmed here since the late 1600s.
