Where Kraaifontein sits
Kraaifontein is said to take its name from kraai, Afrikaans for crow, because of the many crows in the area. Local histories say a railway station called Kraaifontein Junction was built in 1876 and the town grew from there.
The City of Cape Town counts these areas as part of Kraaifontein, among others: Belmont Park, Bonnie Brae, Eikendal, Peerless Park, Scottsville, Summerville, Windsor Park and Zoo Park. This guide covers the whole town.
